Edith Keeler is killed in a road traffic accident. In an alternate timeline Keeler is saved by Dr. McCoy, thrown into the past by the Guardian of Forever. She goes on to become a person of great importance, using her influence to keep the USA out of World War II. This gives the Germans the time to develop atomic weapons and enables them to conquer the world. [1]
