A Vaadwaur soldier, Gaul was one of those placed into suspended animation when his planet's surface was destroyed during the fall of his Empire. Gaul was revived by Voyager personnel in 2376. He planned to capture the Starship so as to provide his people with modern weapons to enable them to conquer a new world to live on and begin rebuilding their Empire. The attempt failed when Gedrin betrayed Gaul and assisted Voyager's escape. [1]
