A Tellarite, Skalaar was formerly part owner and captain of the cargo ship Tezra. When the Klingons confiscated the ship and demanded a ransom for its return, he turned to bounty hunting to raise the money. In 2153 he captured Captain Archer, but became disillusioned with his career choice during the journey to return him to the Klingons. Fearful of reprisals if he freed Archer, Skalaar handed him over but gave him the means to escape afterwards. [1]
