I have to say, I think the Prime Directive is a pretty good idea most of the time... protecting the primitives from exploitation, harmful interference and all that. But I mean, these people were all going to die. Just how bad could any degree of interference be compared to that?
Body Count :
One Boraalan commits suicide.
Factoid :
The idea of transporting a primitive culture from one plant to another without their knowledge by beaming them into a holodeck would be the primary plot of Star Trek : Insurrection, the third TNG movie.

Location filming was threatened when wildfires broke out in the area. Although the production had to take a break for safety reasons, the fires did not reach the filming area and shooting was able to continue.

This is the last of six episodes of The Next Genereation directed by Alexander Singer. He would go on to direct six episodes of Deep Space Nine and ten of Voyager.

Penny Johnson played the Boraalan that Nikolai was having a child with. She would later be cast to play Kassidy Yates, a freighter pilot in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

This episode marks the first time Michael Dorn ever appeared without his Klingon makeup. He would later go on to do an episode without prosthetic makeup at all in Deep Space Nine's "Far Beyond the Stars".

The Stardate of this episode indicates that it actually happens before The Pegasus, even though it aired afterwards.

Plotline
