A Vezda lifeform in the escaped from a containment sphere and took control of Dana Gamble's body. Transported to the USS Enterprise to seek medical assistance it was a while before they realised that Dana was dead and that they were just dealing with the Vezda lifeform. The lifeform was captured and locked into the brig. [1]

In the brig the lifeform talked to Rex, the guard watching him. It seemed to have information about his family, which there seemed to be know way it could have obtained the information. It used the information bring Rex closer and then breeched the containment field and kill him. [1]

Having escaped the brig the lifeform then returned to sickbay and was killed by Pelia. The entity left Dana's body and was captured in a sphere by Scotty and beamed off the ship. [1]
