Zhaban was a Romulan male. He was a close friend of Admiral Picard and worked on his winery after Picard's retirement. He worked on the contract for Picard's appearance on the Federation News Network, which took place on the anniversary of the Romulan supernova. He went over the details three times to ensure that Picard was not required to discuss why he left Starfleet. Despite this fact Richter, the FNN interviewer, brought up the issue and Picard's response caused trouble with the Starfleet CIC. [1] Zhaban was an ex-member of the Tal Shiar. [2] He was once described by Laris as a "stubbon northerner". [3] He was also one of the only Romulans we have seen to have a beard. [1] Zhaban helped Laris and Picard fight off a Romulan assassination squad who invaded Picard's chateau. [3]Zhaban was married to Laris, they were promised to each other at birth. He passed away in 2400. [4]
