In the mirror universe, Vic Fontaine was a real Human being rather than a hologram. He was killed by mirror Bashir in 2375 whilst attempting to help his partner Ezri steal a cloaking device from our universe. It seems likely that the name and appearance of the Holographic Fontaine character of our universe is based on a real person, and that the mirror Fontaine is a counterpart to this person. [1]
