An enaran, Dathan was a member of the societal group known by his people as "Regressives". The Regressives were considered as second class citizens on his world, and were not allowed to have romantic relationships with the majority group. Nevertheless, Dathan engaged in such a forbidden relationship with Korenna Mirel. The relationship ended when Dathan was allegedly resettled on Peshar, a distant province. In fact he and the other Regressives were murdered. In 2373 memories of Dathan's life were telepathically projected to B'Elanna by Korenna Mirel in a series of dreams. B'Elanna passed the memories on to another Enaran in an attempt to preserve the memory of the genocide. [1]
