Plotline

The USS Discovery is boarded by Admiral Cornwell and Sarek, who explain that the Klingon houses are now completely divided and fight between themselves to see which can destroy the most Federation assets. The only safe refuge for Starfleet beyond Earth is now Starbase 1, and they warp there with Cornwell assuming command.

After an emergency procedure performed by L'Rell, Tyler regains his personality, but can still access Voq's memories. Burnham is unable to forgive him for his actions and rejects him.

The ship arrives at Starbase 1 to find it conquered by a Klingon house. The remainder of Starfleet's ships withdraw to protect Earth. Georgiou tells Burnham that she defeated the Klingons in the Mirror Universe with a surprise attack on their homeworld of Qo'noS, and Cornwell agrees to repeat that plan now.

With the Discovery's spore supply destroyed, Stamets terraforms a desolate moon to grow a new crop of spores so they can start using the spore drive again.

Georgiou tells Sarek and Cornwell of other essential information she has, and they have her pose as this universe's original Captain Georgiou in order to lead the mission.
