Plotline

Holo Janeway turns out to be a training program built into the ship. She assumes that the escapees are Starfleet cadets joining the ship. She begins to train them on how to operate the Protostar and explains to them the job of the Federation and Starfleet. While Zero, Jankom, Rok-Tahk and Murf are eager to join the Federation, Dal, who has appointed himself Captain of the ship, dismisses Janeway. When he unknowingly tells Zero to set a course they end up flying towards a dying star. Dal is forced to ask Janeway for help to save themselves and the ship.

Meanwhile, Gwyn is held in the ship's brig, but begins to plot her escape. She plans to gain control of the ship and return it to her father, who is already in pursuit.
