Plotline

Spock and Chapel are nearly killed when they encounter a portal created by a higher-dimensional race, the Kerkohvians, who heal them both. However, without realising that Spock is different they reconfigure him to match Chapel, making Spock fully human.

Unfortunately for Spock this happens just as Spock is preparing for an engagement ritual with his fiancée T'Pring and her bigoted parents T'Pril and Sevek. Spock's human mother Amanda Grayson boards the Enterprise in order to help Spock prepare. Amanda and the crew to help disguise Spock as Vulcan and hoping to stall the ritual until a cure is found.

When T'Pring arrives Spock chooses not to inform her of his condition, hoping not to worry her. Unable to delay any further Spock proceeds with the ritual and succeeds in completing most of it.

Chapel convinces the Kerkohvians to return Spock to normal by confessing to them her feelings for him. She returns to the Enterprise with a cure for Spock and interrupts proceedings in order to restore him, just in time for him to make a telepathic connection to his mother that shares with him how difficult it is for a human to love a Vulcan.

T'Pril grudingly agrees that Spock has completed the required steps, but Spock then reveals the ruse to call out her bigotry.

Afterwards, T'Pring informs Spock that she is offended that he didn't share his condition with her, insisting that they take a break from their relationship.

Spock later admits to Chapel that he also has feelings for her and they kiss.
