Title : Dark Passions - Book 1 Rating : 3
Writers : Susan Wright Year : 2001
Review : Deals with the Mirror Universe as seen in TOS & DS9, set sometime before the first of the DS9 Mirror Universe episode, Crossover. The book expands on the events and characters as shown on the TV, and gives the readers greater insight into the Mirror Univers, specifically the Cardassian-Klingon Alliance, and the politics involved in managing the former terrortory of Terran Empire.

Review : This continues on from Dark Passions - Book One, in that it further expands on the internal politics of the Cardassian-Klingon Alliance, and the sort of things that can happen in the background of interstellar politics when only those higher in the pecking order prevents those lower on the ladder from flying at one anothers throats. A must read for all interested in the Mirror Universe.

Review : This is the first of a four part saga spanning TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY. This deals with the events surrounding the first recorded encounter that the Federation and the Klingons had with the species collectively known as the Furies. For those interested in such things, this book is set just after the TOS second season episode "Friday's Child" involving the planet Capella.

Review : This is the fourth in the four part saga spanning TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY. The USS Voyager encounters the Furies home planet after tracking a Starfleet distress signal back to its source, leading to a final, climatic showdown between Voyager and a planet full of their worst nightmares, the Furies.

Review : This is the second part of a four part saga spanning TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY. In this book, the Furies return to the Alpha Quadrant to finish what they started in the first book, namely to reconquer what they believe is theirs by right. And the only thing standing in their way are two Klingon Birds of Preya and a three ship Starfleet taskforce lead by the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-D.
Title : Invasion! 3 : Time's Enemy Rating : 3
Writers : L.A. Graf Year : 1996
Review : This is the third part of a four story saga spanning TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY. In this story, the crew of the USS Defiant and the station Deep Space Nine meet the aliens that defeated and drove the Furies from what they call 'Heaven', namely, the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. During this encounter, they find out why the Furies call these ancient enemies the 'Unclean'.

Review : A crossover between Star Trek: The Nex Generation and the Marvel Comics superhero team, the X-Men. Set during the war with the Dominion, the X-Men and the USS Enterprise-E, the only Starfleet vessel in the area, must deal with a super-powered menace while on a Federation member planet while on the way to a summit meeting with the Klingons, in order to discuss the progress of the war.

Review : This is a great book in that it attempts to deal with an area of Star Trek lore that hasn't really been explored before, the formation of the Federation and Starfleet, as well as some of the Earth/Romulan War itself. Despite that it has been rendered largely moot by the new series, Enterprise, it is still a fascinating read, as this book suggests that the infamous Dadeulus class starship wasn't produced until some time after Starfleet was formed. Another new idea was that there was some debate about the nature of Starfleet, military or scientific, which isn't too surprising, when one considers that at least one of the founding members had just been through a war, and that some of the others were involved in conflicts also during the years leading up to the founding of the Federation, although that wasn't covered in the book. When all is said and done, I suggest that you read the book and decide which take you prefer the most, the Enterprise television series or the books on the founding of the FEderation.

Title : Star Trek: Starship Spotter Rating : 2
Writers : Adam 'Mojo' Lebowitz, Robert Bonchune Year : 2001
Review : This book gives a brief overview of some of the major classes of ships from the Original Series to The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine to Voyager, and does a pretty good job of it too. It covers some of the major ships from Starfleet, as well as the Klingons, Romulans and Cardassians, as well as a number of Delta Quadrant powers, including the Borg and the Malon. About my only real gripe about this book is that it only covers thirty vessels, I feel that it should cover far more, particularly more of the vessels used by the Dominion and the Borg, as the book only covers one vessel each for these two great powers, the Attack Ship and the Queens Yacht.
