The command module of the Aries 4, one of Mankind's early missions to Mars, is swallowed into a subspace ellipse together with its pilot Lieutenant John Kelly on October 19th. The loss of the craft strands two astronauts on Mars for weeks, and almost derails the entire Mars program. This marks Mankind's first ever encounter with a spatial anomaly. [1]
