Notes

Yorktown is a massive starbase, located on the frontier of federation space near the Necro Cloud Nebula. It was commanded by Commodore Paris. It was home to millions of people and was the most advanced station in the federation in 2263. [1]

Located in a remote area of space allows the station to welcome potential new federation members without the possible diplomatic implications of being located on a federation planet. [1]

The station contains docking facilities capable of housing the large USS Enterprise. It can resuppliy ships on extended missions, repair damaged vessels and contains a full starship production facility capable of production of such ships. [1]

When the Enterprise is destroyed on a mission to the planet Altimid in the near by nebula a replacement ship, the NCC1701-A, is contstructed in the starbase shipyard. [1]
