Universe : Prime Timeline
Species Name : Kerkohvians [1]
Quadrant : Alpha [1]

The Kerkohvians were an ancient alpha quadrant race from the Kerkhov star system. They were known to have built an impressive civilization before mysteriously disappearing. They had left behind with several cultural sites. It was also rumoured that they possessed an advanced knowledge of medicine that even surpassed that of the Federation. [1]

In 2259 the USS Enterprise visited the star system and discovered strange energy signature emanating from one of its moons. A shuttle maned by Spock and nurse Chapel was sent to examine the phenomenon but they get too close and the the ship was damaged, leaving both Chapel and Spock injured. The Kerkohvians rescued the vessel and repaired the damage, also curing Chapel and Spock of any injuries. Unfortunately, they mistook Spock's Vulcan DNA as a defect and corrected it, leaving him completely human. [1]

The Kerkhovians explained that they were now sentient non-corporeal lifeforms and that they had migrated to inter-dimensional space. They provided a data-chip that explained the method of contacting them in the future. When Captain Pike attempted to communicate with them and explain that Spock had been mistakenly modified from his normal form the Kerkhovians refused to discuss the situation with him, as he was not a relative of Spock. [1]

The Kerkhovians, it turned out, had a rigid legalistic system for dealing with other species. They would accept responsibility for problems caused by their entrance tunnel and provide "remediation" for the issues. However, now that remediation was complete no further exchange was required or accepted. Pike sent Chapel, Ortegas and Uhura to try and negotiate with the Kerkhovians. However, they were unwilling to discuss the issue further. It was only when Chapel explained her love for Spock that they recognise the validity of her claim on Spock's behalf. They provided a cure for restoring Spock's Vulcan DNA which Chapel was able to use to restore Spock. [1]
