Commander Sisko encounter a human colony on a planet where most advanced technology is disrupted by a local duonetic field. The field proves to be artificial, created by the colony leader, Alixus, to force the colonists to live the primitive life she supports. Sisko disables the field to give the colonists a choice in how to live their lives. [1]
