Mandaxic Neurosclerosis is an illness caused by a silicon-based virus. It is very rare and, in theory, completely curable by culturing infected cells in an active positronic matrix. Thad Troi-Riker suffered from this disease, but by that time the ban on synthetic life meant that there were no active positronic matrices and the ban precluded new ones from being developed. [1]
