Post by Reliant121 »

Then it failed just 10 minutes ago.

Yip me and Tsu had trouble awhile ago. I had about 2 hours of no service.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I was trying to get on for about 2-1/2 hrs this morning and kept getting a "critical error: system debug" message. The main page had no problem - it was just the forum.

Well, it's kept giving me problems for the last hour. Same problem Mikey described.

Yes it seemed really screwed up last night, and I gave up on it.

Got back on to post the response above, and then had the same thing again for about an hour.

I wasn't aware of an issue, but I haven't really been looking at the site recently. Seems to be working fine now. I'll ask the ISP.

OK, this is the issue:
Last night we had a problem in which 24 of our servers suffered a sudden loss of power.

All servers are back up now, but there may be lingering issues affecting files that were being accessed during the event.

Your ISP should invest in a couple of $20 APC backups/power conditioners. :P

Even with those you can still get power issues, batteries can fail after a while. Also they cost a lot more than $20. The kind of UPS that an ISP uses cost about $20,000, requires a three phase power connection and supports a whole bunch of servers. They're also the size of two decent size computer tables.

The ones we use in our server rooms at work cost about $1400 and will provide about 2200VA for about 15mins. They supports about 2 servers and a disk array.

They do have them but, as I say, they're not perfect.
