The Enterprise-D proceeds to Graves' World, home of the noted Federation scientist Dr. Ira Graves, in response to a distress call. The terminally ill Graves dies soon afterwards, but in an attempt to continue his existence he transfers his memory and personality to Data before dying. Data becomes increaingly erratic and even violent as a result, but the personality is eventually removed. [1]
