Plotline

Discovery jumps to the location of a Kingon attack in an attempt to save the endangered ship. They discover that the Klingon ships are using cloaking technology to hide themselves. Unable to beat this advantage the other ship is lost. Discovery is only able to escape using her spore drive.

Searching for a way to detect these cloaked ships, Burnham, Tyler, and Saru are sent to Pahvo, a seemingly uninhabited planet with a naturally occurring crystalline transmitter that broadcasts the planet's vibrational frequency into space. They hope to alter the transmitter's frequency to create a sonar like system to detect the cloaked ships.

Meanwhile, L'Rell tries to help Cornwell escape in exchange for protection from Kol, but when both are caught in a hallway L'Rell kills Cornwell to try and save face with Kol. He sees through the subterfuge and sentences her to death.

Down on Pahvo Saru discovers that it is inhabited with higher beings, consisting mainly of energy. These lifeforms introduce Saru to their higher understanding of peace, and he attempts to force Burnham and Tyler to remain with him on the planet forever. Burnham is able to fight off Saru and broadcast the new signal.

The Pahvo lifeforms adjust the signal to contact the Klingons as well, hoping to end the war. Kol receives the signal.
