Review : This is probably my favorite early episode of TNG. Barclay is a terrifically flawed character, and as the main cast deals with him, we see a side of them that we don't get to see anywhere else. It's a brilliant story - Barclay is used in a way that enhances the depth of many characters on the show; not the least of which is Mr. B himself, one of my favorite characters. Dwight Schultz's performance is genius! I was always very nervous growing up, and doubly so around the opposite sex. I immediately felt for the guy. And the scenes between him and Counselor Troi make some of the best use of the Troi character in the whole series. This character-driven episode is the kind of Trek that I like the most. 19 years later it's still relevant and highly entertaining. Also, this was the first episode that made me think dirty thoughts about the holodeck!

Review : A very solid episode of TNG. It introduces a character who is far closer to an everyman than we usually get to see. Mostly I like this episode for seeing someone use the holodeck like a regular person even with all the very sticky questions that get raised. I also enjoyed the B plot with the ship malfunctions. It didn't feel like a technobabble solution even if it sort of was.
