A brilliant scientist, Serova made the discovery that warp drive was having a damaging effect on the fabric of space. Her results were rejected by the Federation science council, forcing her to take drastic action to force attention onto the issue. She ultimately sacrificed herself by initiating a warp core breach on board her ship, creating a subspace rift which proved her theories true. [1]
