A member of the Trill initiate program, Jadzia Dax was assigned as Arjin's field docent - a mentor role in which joined Trill would asses a candidate's potential for joining. Dax was initially convinced that Arjin was unsuitable for joining, whilst he in turn thought that her behavious was inappropriate for a joined Trill. The two did eventually reconcile their differences, and Jadzia came to believe that he would eventually be able to prove himself suitable for joining. [1]
