Brother to Worf, Nikolai is an impulsive character who rarely thinks through the consequences of his actions. In 2370 he was studying the Boraalan species when their planet was threatened by an atmospheric disruption. Nikolai recreated a native village on the Enterprise-D holodeck and beamed the inhabitants aboard the ship without their knowledge, determined to save them from the catastrophe. Worf found Nikolai's attitude to duty and honour intensely irritating, and the two often argued - though they did work well together when forced to. [1]
