An astronaut during Earth's 21st century, Kelly was one of the first men to travel to the planet Mars. On October 19 2032 at 0922 hours his ship was swept up into a Graviton Ellipse, Mankind's first encounter with a spatial anomaly. Kelly lived for a considerable time within the ellipse, making several major scientific discoveries. Eventually he came to accept that he would never be rescued; he shut down his life support system so that he could use the power to keep his sensor system running for as long as possible. Kelly's body was discovered by Voyager in 2376 and he was given a burial in space. [1]
