A Vorta official, Gelnon was in command of the Jem'Hadar unit which captured the USS Defiant in 2374. He was not the most astute of commanders, placing a great deal of faith in the new breed of Alpha-quadrant Jem'Hadar. Gelnon left a party of Jem'Hadar to crew the Defiant and took his ship and to launch an attack on Coridan. [1]Shortly thereafter, Gelnon was present on Farius Prime as part of a mission to assassinate the Klingon Ambassador to that planet with Klingon weaponry, in hopes of provoking a civil war amongst the Klingons. To this end he sought the assistance of the Orion Syndicate. The plan was foiled thanks to Chief O'Brien, who was working undercover to penetrate the Syndicate for Starfleet Intelligence. [2]
