A member of Species 116, Arturis was devastated when the Borg assimilated his people in the aftermath of their war with Species 8472. He blamed Captain Janeway for the loss, since she had helped the Borg to win that war. Arturis engaged in an elaborate deception intended to lure Voyager's crew onto a ship he had prepared, which would then take them into Borg space where they would themselves be assimilated. The plan failed, leaving Arturis himself at the mercy of the Borg. [1]
