A member of the Romulan military, Mirok was science officer aboard a scientific research vessel which was developing a phase cloak device in 2368. When the Enterprise-D lent assistance to the ship after it underwent a catastrophic accident, Mirok attempted to destroy the Starship in order to prevent them learning of the cloak technology.
