A member of the Maquis, Kalita was part of the group which Ro Laren infiltrated in 2370. Although initially distrustful, Kalita came to believe that Ro was serious about becoming a member of the group after the two stole medical supplies from the Enterprise-D. In fact Ro was working for Starfleet, but she became convinced that the Maquis were justified in their actions and joined them for real. [1] Kalita was also part of the group which stole the USS Defiant in 2371. [2]
