Christine Chapel

NotesImagesTimelineQuotes
Universe : Prime Timeline
Name : Christine Chapel [1]
Species : Humans

During the Klingon - Federation war, Chapel served for a time on the moon of J'Gal where she was appointed head nurse in one of the Mobile Combat Surgical Unit along side Doctor Joseph M'Benga and under the command of Commander Buck Martinez. [2]

Originally a promising bioresearch specialist, [3] working for the Stanford Morehouse Epigenetic Project, she took part in a civilian exchange program and was assigned to the USS Farragut to work as nurse. During her time there she lost a crew member, an event she memorialised on Federation Remembrance Day. [4] She was then transferred to the USS Enterprise working once again with Doctor M'Benga. [5]

Chapel inoculated the away team when the beamed down to the comet M'hanit, protecting them from cosmic rays. When George Kirk was injured on the mission she attended to his injuries in the transporter room. [6] Whilst taking shore leave on Starbase 1 she assisted Spock when he and T'Pring swapped bodies. [7]

When the USS Enterprise was hijacked by pirates Chapel was able to avoid capture. She was able to contact Spock and together they attempted to take back control of the ship. Unfortunately, they were captured and discovered that the pirate captain was attempting to free her lover, and Spock's brother, Sybok from the Ankeshtan K'til Retreat, run by T'Pring. Chapel and Spock were able to foil their plans by pretending to be in love with each other, causing T'Pring to break their engagement. Once the situation was resolved Spock explained the ploy to T'Pring who re-instated their engagement. [8]

In 2259 Spock and Chapel went on an away mission to Kerkohv to look for a long lost species, the Kerkohvians. They discovered an high energy anomaly on a moon in the system and when they approached the shuttle was damaged and Spock and Chapel were injured. The high energy anomaly turned out to be a portal to an extra dimensional space occupied by the Kerkohvians. When they discovered the damage caused the Kerkohvians repaired the shuttle and healed Chapel and Spock. Unfortunately, they used Chapel as a guide and repaired what they decided was damaged DNA in Spock. Turning him completely Vulcan. [9]

Chapel helped a now fully human Spock prepare for an engagement meal with T'Pring and her family. When T'Pring found out that Spock hadn't informed her that he was now 100% human she broke off their engagement again. At the same time time Chapel got back in contact with the Kerkohvians and talked them into repairing properly Spock. Now restored to his normal self Chapel confesed her feelings for him and they started a relationship. [9]

When ambassador Dak'Rah, a Klingon now working as a Federation ambassador, visited the Enterprise after finalising a piece deal with waring planets. Both M'Benga and Chapel recognised him as the Butcher of J'Gal, where they were both stationed during the Klingon - Federation war. M'Benga killed Dak'Rah claiming self defence and was backed up by Chapel, even though she had not seen the entire event. [2] Chapel applied for a Fellowship of Archaeological Medicine with the Vulcan science academy, however, she was rejected by the project leader. [10]

In 2259 Chapel applied to study under Roger Korby and was accepted. Before leaving she put her relationship with Spock on hold. She left the USS Enterprise to start her studies, accepting a lift from the USS Cayuga. Unfortunately, the Cayuga was destroyed by the Gorn at Parnassus Beta. [11] Chapel managed to survive on board the wreckage of the Cayuga in orbit of the planet. Spock planned to guide the remains of the Cayuga down to the planet in order to destroy a Gorn beacon that was preventing communication and use of the transporter. He was in the process of attaching the last of the retro rockets to the hull when he noticed that Chapel was onboard. Spock managed to save Chapel and fire the Cayuga at the planet. The Enterprise beamed up the survivors from the planet and escaped the system. [12]

On returning to the USS Enterprise she brought Roger Korby back to meet the crew. Announcing the they were now in a romantic relationship. Her visit coincided with a USS Enterprise visit to Starbase 1 to celebrate Federation Day. Unknown to those on the station Trelane was also present and created a mass delusion in order to have a wedding between Spock and Chapel. Roger Korby somehow managed to break out of the delusion and was later able to break Spock free. The delusion was ended when Trelane's farther turned up and put things right. [13]

Spock, Korby and Chapel all formed part of the away team to Vadia IX to investigate an ancient structure. The structure turned out to be a dimensional prison for an evil race called the Vezda. The team seemed trapped in the prison and had to work together to escape. [14]

In 2261, Chapel, along with Pike, Uhura, and La'An went on a mission to Tezaar a non-warp planet in order to repair a nuclear reactor the Vulcan's had provided to run their planet. In order to do so the four of them had to become Vulcan. A feat the achieved using the Kerkohvian's serum used to restore Spock's Vulcan half. When it came time to restore the four to Human form the serum failed leaving them stuck in Vulcan form. Seeing the benefits of being Vulcan they each decided to stay that way. Eventually Spock and another Vulcan, named Doug, managed to convince them to return to normal and an amended serum was used to convert them. [15]

Dr. Roger Korby, vanished whilst on a research mission on Exo III. Korby's last message spoke of discovering some caves, and Chapel was hopeful that he may somehow have survived. She judged correctly that eventually a Starship would be sent to investigate the planet, and so joined Starfleet in order to become a part of that mission. [3]

Whilst in Starfleet Chapel served on board the USS Enterprise, where she met and fell in love with Mister Spock. Spock's Vulcan nature did not allow him to return the emotion, and Chapel found this a source of great sorrow. [1] Despite her feelings for Spock she remained committed to finding Korby, and in 2266 the USS Enterprise was indeed assigned to investigate Exo III. Chapel was overjoyed when the ship apparently discovered Korby alive and well on the planet's surface, but her happiness was short lived - Dr. Korby had been very badly injured when his expedition failed, and had survived by using ancient technology he discovered on the planet to transfer his personality into the body of an android. Korby's violent actions on the planet led Chapel to conclude that the transfer had been imperfect, creating only a rough facsimile of her fiancĂ©. When confronted with the reality of his existence Korby was destroyed along with the android Andrea by a phaser blast. [3]

Chapel remained in Starfleet after the incident, and by 2271 she had become a full M.D. and a physician on board the newly refitted Enterprise. [16] By 2286 she was serving at Starfleet Command, where she directed operations on Earth during the Cetacean Probe incident. [17]
