Kirk's Enterprise also went back in time and they ended up in Earth's atmosphere. And they could get out again, but I don't know how they react to getting into an atmosphere.

no, Power issues, Do you really think that the power requirements would be low, as also adding in a new warp core would probably like trying to run Vista on a ENIAC...

well i really wasn't clear on that, my apologies, But, I can imagine that QT's and the new phaser arrays, would consume a lot of power, thus needing a new warp core which is similar to the Nuclear reactor, The core probably wouldn't FIT or be compatible with the existing circuitry.
