USS Prometheus

Post by Mark »

Just out of curiousity, assume for a minute that during Multi Vector Assault Mode, the seconday hull was destroyed. Would that completely screw the crew? Could the two halves function independantly long enough to reach a starbase or something?

Or, on the same train of thought, if the primary or tertiary hull were destroyed, would there be any kind of advantage in re joining the two remaining sections?

Would they even fit together?

If not, they seemed fully warp-capable independantly, so I guess they'd just cruise back to a starbase seperately.

It does raise an interesting point. The Nacelle deployed by the top section seemed more like a short term thing than a full nacelle. Of course if they weren't too far out it wouldn't be such a problem, if one did loose Warp it could just be tractored in but if your behind enemy lines what happens then?

Well technically they dont need to fit back together. The remaining bits have warp by themselves. But I think the top and bottom bits could join, not sure about the back bit though.

The upper segment's auxiliary nacelle did seem pathetically small, but we're talking about a situation to just run away in an emergency - I'm sure it's capable of that well enough.

I imagine all bits are capable of going to warp. But I wouldn't want to be on one of those sections with an enemy fleet chasing after me.

Well, I don't think it's considered the first option...

I would imagine that the warp engines are at the very least independant and COULD power them. but i doubt it would be Favourable an option.

According to the MSD displayed here --> http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl= ... 5%26sa%3DN
All the systems seem to be replicated in triplicate (which is what I always assumed) so I figure the other 2 sections should be able to last long enough to either reach a base or meet someone half way for a tow.

Good find. So there's definitely a computer core and warp core (at least) for each section.
