Sequels that outdid the original

Post by stitch626 »

We have plenty of sequels out there that are terrible (in comparison with the original). I'm looking for ones that actually were better than their predecessor.

Oh btw, I take The Wrath of Khan.

I feel very alone and quite an oddity, but I HATE Empire strikes back. I have no idea why either, I just...do.

I guess it depends on what you like. To me, Alien was a gorgeously designed and directed thriller in Scott's best form, while Aliens was a shoot-em-up. A good one, no doubt, but that's all it was.

Yeah thats how I feel. Though on the action side, Aliens did do better.

Well I prefer action to horror, so...yeah. Besides, Aliens built upon the foundation of Alien and provided the material that would carry the EU to become what it is; it managed to expand on what was a unique, fearsome, and awesome monster without detracting from it. For example the queen, which was amazingly enough a suitably badass creature to be the matriarch of the badass monster we were introduced to in the first movie.

Personally, I prefer the more cerebral type of thriller to a shoot-em-up, but that's why they make chocolate and vanilla, I guess. As to the EU aspect... don't care at all.

Underworld : Rise of the Lycan outdid Underworld : Evolution..

The jury is still out about wether or not it outdid the original movie. So maybe it doesn't count
