Don't children in Star Trek seem to age fast? Particularly around the toddler/pre-toddler age?
Especially Molly and Alexander.
In DS9-1 (TNG-6), Molly was already 3 years (according to "The Nagus") when she was born just the year before. Perhaps Miles and Keiko decided they had enough of changing diapers and performed a transporter experiment. Make her a little older like they were able to make Picard, Ro, Guinan, and Keiko older in "Rascals".
And, Alexander has it worse, aging eighteen years in eight.

It's called Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome.

Kids aren't terribly interesting to a story until they can walk and talk.

I thought Worf trying to get the O'Brien kid to go to sleep was an effective comedic scene.GrahamKennedy wrote:Kids aren't terribly interesting to a story until they can walk and talk.

Unless of course, you put them, W.C. Fields style, near Picard and watch him struggle to cope with the situationGrahamKennedy wrote:Kids aren't terribly interesting to a story until they can walk and talk.

Re: Molly and other Trek children
At least the token Voyager child had a reason for aging quickly (at least visually).

Re: Molly and other Trek children
I don't think it's too bad, considering that we can easily assume that 'Trek medical technology slows the aging process for adults considerably. Miles or Keiko wouldn't necessarily look 5 years older when Molly has aged 5 years.
However, this is another one of those ENT-style incidences in which the viewer is forced to deduce or just make up something that should have a logical IU explanation presented.
