Year Event
2031
[1] An international effort is mounted to divert a cluster of asteroid fragments from impacting the Earth. The event leads to 2031 being dubbed "The Year We Dodged A Bullet". Six of the fragments are captured, moved to Earth’s L-5 Lagrange point, where they are converted into O'Neill-class space habitats. The colonies are known as Vanguard, Roykirk, Moss-Offenhouse, NicholCorp, Brynner, and Starling. [1]
  Species :  Humans
2053
[1] The six O’Neil colonies in Earth’s L5 Lagrange point survive the World War III intact. [1]
  Species :  Humans
2058
[1] The six O’Neil colonies at Earth's L5 Lagrange point cooperate with Zefram Cochrane on Earth in an experiment to generate a stable subspace field, part of Cochrane’s efforts to develop space warp technology. An error leads to all six colonies vanishing and are presumed destroyed. In fact, the Vanguard colony survives and is thrown approximately 200 light years from Earth. 827 of the inhabitants survive the experiemnt. [1]
  Species :  Humans
[1] A month after the an accident threw it some 200 light years from Earth, the Vanguard asteroid is attacked by Nausicaan raiders. The "tuskers”, as the inhabitants call them, kill 252 people before being driven off. As a result the Vanguard inhabitants begin to develop a ruthless policy towards alien encounters, with all aliens treated as enemies. [1]
  Species :  Humans
2120
[1] The Neyel Hanif Wafiyy is born on the Vanguard asteroid. By 2204, he will become the “Drech’tor” of the asteroid. [1]
  Species :  Humans
2155
[1] The Vanguard asteroid colony encounts an area of interphasic space and is catapulted some 210,000 light years through space, into the Small Magellanic Cloud. [1]
  Species :  Humans
2169
[1] An alien spacecraft lands on the Vanguard asteroid. It is quickly attacked and crippled by the inhabitants. The vessel’s power system, warp drive and gravity plating are all captured intact. Study of these systems will allow the “Vangar” inhabitants, who refer to themselves as the Neyel, to reproduce the technologies over the following decades. [1]
  Species :  Humans
2204
[1] The Vangar asteroid encounters a class M planet, Oghen, inhabited by an iron age civilisation. Under Drech’tor Wafiyy’s orders the Neyel take control of the planet in a somewhat benign conquest, improving conditions for the Ohen natives in return for taking resources from the planet. [1]
  Species :  Humans, Oghen
2219
[1] Drech’tor Hanif Wafiyy dies. The Neyel rule of Oghen becomes much more severe in the aftermath, effectively reducing the Oghen species to planet-wide slavery. Much of the Oghen population is destroyed over the next 45 years. [1]
  Species :  Humans, Oghen
2265
[1] The Neyel launch a campaign of conquest, with the planet Lirillia as their first target. [1]
  Species :  Humans
2298
[1] The USS Excelsior, under the command of Captain Sulu and hosting Ambassador Aidan Burgess, travels to meet representatives of the Tholian Assembly on a peace mission. Covert intelligence gathering by the Excelsior reveals that the Tholians are at war with the Neyel, whose ships are entering Tholian territory through interphase space. Captain Sulu is able to broker a ceasefire between the two sides, whilst Ambassador Burgess defects from the Federation to live amongst the Neyel in the Small Magellanic Cloud, making it her life’s mission to prepare them to be reuinted with the rest of Humanity. [1]
People :  Hikaru Sulu, Pavel A. Chekov, Tuvok
  Species :  Humans, Tholians
2379
[2] The USS Titan, under the command of Captain Riker, visits the planet Romulus in the aftermath of Shinzon's attempted coup. During the mission the Titan is swept to the Small Magellanic Cloud after being swept into the spatial rift created by the destruction of Shinzon's Thalaron weapon. There they encounter the Neyel [3], a species of genetically enhanced Humans discovered by Captain Sulu in 2298. [1]
  People :  William T. Riker
  Species :  Romulans, Remans
2380
[4] Stranded in the Small Magellanic Cloud, Captain Riker must deal with the genetically enhanced Neyel and a large, immensely dangerous spatial anomaly. [5]
  People :  William T. Riker
