The Enterprise-D meets with the USS Fearless to take aboard Kosinski, a Starfleet propulsion specialist who is upgrading Starship engines. Kosinski's exeriments on the ship result in incredible bursts of speed which throw it cast distances across the universe, largely due to the involvement of his assistant, the Traveller. The Traveller is ultimately able to return the Enterprise to the proper place. [1]

The Enterprise visits a Starbase 74. Whilst there an experiment run by Wesley Crusher traps his mother Beverly Crusher in a warp bubble. Wesley is able to rescue his mother with the help of The Traveller. [2]
