Kot was a business partner of Quark. In 2362 Kot and Quark participated in a plot to steal a transport of Romulan ale. When the plot failed, Quark cooperated with the Romulans to avoid prison time, leading to Kot spending eight years in prison. On his release, Kot attempted to murder Quark. Despite this the two began working together again; Kot shot the Yridian Ashrock and stole some merchandise Quark had given him, and took Jadzia Dax and Melora Pazlar hostage to enable him to escape. He shot Melora with a phaser, but she was subsequently able to disable the Runabout's artificial gravity systems and use her zero gee skills to incapacitate him. [1]
