They can also be destroyed by a wood fire, which puts them in serious danger if they come up against some yobbo with a Molotov. Yes, they're dangerous, yes they're difficult to pin down. They're a long way from invulnerable.

So the vampires of today are basically Superman with a weakness to fire instead of cryptonite?

Jezz,....now I am by no means old but in my times their greatest power was that they lived forever and could turn into a bat. Nothing of this "superstrength, speed, spamina superhero-crap.

(But then I also wasn't one to watch Buffy, Angel and whatnot so the even not so recent trends probably skipped right by me...)

I've said it before - Dracula could effortlessly pick up a coffin full of earth with one hand, move across a room in the blink of an eye, pin someone to the spot through pure force of will, climb a sheer wall by his fingernails. The sparklepires are nothing special.

Well, I am certainly no expert on the topic, suffice it to say that I always had a slightly different view of them.

Anyhow...

If it can tolerate sunlight, it's not a vampire. If it sparkles, it's David Bowie. Case closed.

*EDIT* I don't know how to call The Hunger, though.

So Dracula wasn't a vampire?

If you mean the historical figure who became known as "Dracula" or "Little Drakul," then no - he wasn't. If you mean the fictional character... well, it's been almost two decades since I last read Stoker, but I don't think Stoker's Dracula made it outside in the sunshine too much.

On the contrary - he couldn't transform between sunrise and sunset, save at noon, but he could move about without hindrance.

Like I said, it's been twenty years or so. I thought he couldn't move about in daylight, thus necessitating his usage of Renfield.

I've got no problem with a vampire moving about in sunlight. Sparkling however... :bangwall:

Makes it easier to dress up for Halloween... just roll about in glitter.

That's not Halloween, that's a Thursday night at the Tunnel after a few gins and a couple of tabs.

Body glitter (a/o pacifiers, candy necklaces, and fingertip glow-lights) generally only points to one type of venue, and a single corresponding type of chemical recreation.

True, but she obviously doesn't know much about Brazil either, and that hasn't stopped her from referring to its geography.
She obviously didn't know much about vampires too.
