Indeed, as the main source of strain wouldn't come from underneath In Universe, but from the impulse engines. Not to mention the lack of a structural integrity field in real life.

Well I was talking about building a replica ship in real life even if does nothing but sit there.

As to the structural issue, I don't know about the scale, but couldn't the bottom of the engineering hull be possibly big enough so that the curvature wouldn't matter as much?
[Obviously this would NOT be the Abramsverse Enterprise. ]
