Opinionated B5 Episode Guide steps back into Season 1. Raiders threaten the station, while a stranger goes from ambassador to ambassador with a single, simple question that will change the galaxy. Also, a bald lady shows up.

It was a great ep in terms of the set up for the future eps. On its own though, I think Chuck was right, it did need the Raider battle to bring some action to it. Break up the slow pace of things. Plus I think it was the first time we got to see the station and fighters in an open battle. Again that set the pace for the different style of combat for the Humans vs most other races.

It's one of those "nexus" episodes. It serves as the collection, the springboard and the genesis for other EP's. It collects plot lines and puts them forward, it acts as a springboard for the next plot lines, and as a genesis for ideas and tactics, IU thoughts and concepts. On its own it cannot stand, but as a hub for the others its great.

Not going to happen, I spent ten minutes explaining for a teacher what the Manifest Destiny ideal meant. I've never had to explain the idea of walking to west so many times in so many ways.

She's a special education teacher, not a history teacher. So I can understand the mistake somewhat. It has been a while since she was in middle school history. Though I don't believe it could have been to long cause she's only 21 or 22...

I don't think so, but the way she teaches reminds me of elementary school design and not middle or high school. I think she's just out of her training zone. Its also her first year so she's trying to find her fit to things. Its tough being a new teacher in a room of non-teachers who all have more experience in the material.

As the teacher she is supposed to lead, but its not easy.

Best description of a Shadow ship I've ever heard.

The skin... I can't describe it. It flows like oil and shimmers.

Fun fact : you know what texture they used on the surface of Shadow ships?

A dog's nose.
