Indeed, but the relationship between Doolittle and Talby is touching, the way Talby can't open up to anyone aboard other then Talby.

And hilarious as it is, I still think Pinbacks log entry towards the end of the film where he admits he's not really Pinback is rather sad.

My fave book - the one I've read the most times, despite its size.

I saw the film first, and so seem to identify the actors in the film with the characters in the book when I read.

It has to be said, Picard quoting Buddy Holly then leaping over his seat to the tactical station has to be one of the coolest scenes in TNG ever. Though I would have dearly loved to see Wes getting decapitated.
