On the eve of the battle the androids of the planet Coppelius launched their orbital defence orchids in the hope of destroying as many attacking ships as they could. When the Romulan fleet arrived the orchids went into action and managed to destroy at least 13 ships before they were destroyed. While that was happening Soji was working on completing the transmission tower. [1]

Agnes had freed Picard and together they had returned to La Sirena finding nobody there. Picard in desperation flew the ship himself, finding it difficult to start with, but improving as time went on. As they reached orbit the last of the orchids were being destroyed, leaving La Sirena as the only defence of the planet. In order to seem more of a credible threat to the fleet, Agnes used the android repair device to simulate a large fleet of duplicate ships. The ruse worked and the Romulans attacked the fake ships. It was quite some time before they managed to hit the real ship and destroy the illusion. [1]

Seeing Picard's ship hit Soji completed work on the transmitter and started to broadcast. Soon after a portal started to open and higher androids started to tentatively make their way through. [1]

It was at that point that the Federation fleet arrived, with Riker in command. The ships in the fleet were described by Riker as the toughest, fastest, most powerful ships Starfleet had ever put into service. Picard's ship had survived being hit by the Romulan disruptor and got in touch with Soji in order to convince her that she didn't need to be "The Destroyer" that the Romulans thought she was. Ultimately he was successful and Soji destroyed the transmitter, closing the portal and preventing the higher androids from coming through. Faced with no immediate threat and a large Federaton fleet, General Oh agreed to leave and ordered her fleet to depart. Riker followed them to the border of Romulan space. [1]
