This species inhabited a subspace void which Voyager encountered in the Delta Quadrant. They were difficult to detect on sensors, and eked out a living by sneaking aboard ships trapped in the void and living off their supplies. They were unable to talk via voice, but with the assistance of Voyager's EMH they developed a complex musical language. [1]
