Carol Marcus

Universe : Prime Timeline
Name : Carol Marcus [1]
Species : Humans

A gifted scientist, Dr. Marcus was appointed as civilian oversight to the Taurus meta-genome project in 2266, much to Lieutenant Xiong's displeasure. He was, however, quickly impressed with her grasp of his work and the broader implications of unlocking the secrets of the Shedai technology. Whilst Xiong believed that the technology used to reattach and repair Lieutenant McLellan's leg could be adapted for widespread medical use, Marcus believed that the same technology could be expanded on a grand scale to modify or even create entire planets. It was this idea that led her to develop this technology into what would become known as the Genesis Device in later years. [2]

Marcus became involved in a romantic relationship with Captain Kirk which resulted in a son, David. Carol was reluctant to allow Kirk any contact with David because of the nature of his life as a Starfleet officer. Kirk agreed to stay away from the boy during his childhood, and Marcus never revealed the identity of his father to David whilst he was growing up. Carol and Kirk were thrown together by fate when Khan Singh attacked the Genesis project where she and David were working. [1]
