A Human Starfleet officer, Khatami, was the first officer of the Starship Endeavor in 2265. She took part in the investigation of the planet Erilon that the Endeavor conducted in that year. [1]

When the Endeavour was attacked by a Shedai planetary defence system on Erilon, Khatami was forced to take command of the ship in order to escape the planet. She was subsequently promoted to Captain and assigned as the commanding officer of the ship. [2]

Khatami was married to a man named Kenji, who lived in their home on Deneva. [2]

In 2266 Khatami took the Endeavour to Gamma Tauri IV to support the Starfleet effort to investigate the Shedai presence there. The ship was again damaged by planetary defence systems when the Shedai attacked and destroyed the colony on the planet. In response Commodore Reyes ordered Khatami to execute Starfleet General Order 24. She thus became one of the very few Starfleet Captains to obliterate the entire surface of a planet. [3]
