Krall

TimelineQuotes
Universe : Kelvin Timeline
Name : Krall [1]
Species : Humans

Born in the 22nd century as Balthazar M. Edison, Krall was a Human who was a soldier with the Military Assault Command Operations organisation on Earth. He fought against both the Xindi and Romulans in that capacity. Edison came to believe that conflicts such as these enhanced the strength of the Human species. When the Federation was founded in the aftermath of the Earth-Romulan war Edison saw it as a betrayal of this principle, believing that the unity of different species was a weakness rather than a strength. [1]

He was left further aggrieved when the MACO organisation was disbanded and its members folded into the new non-military Federation Starfleet. Edison was appointed as the commander of the USS Franklin and sent on an exploration mission. The Franklin was subsequently lost, a mystery which persisted for over a century. [1]

Unknown to Starfleet, his ship had been thrown through a wormhole and crash-landed on an alien planet. Edison came to believe that his distress calls were not answered because the Federation had abandoned him, and this combined with his existing dissatisfaction to cause a pathological hatred of both the Federation and Starfleet in him. [1]

He discovered the remains of an advanced civilisation on the planet, including technology which allowed him to drain the life force from others, a process which extended his own life whilst causing him to take on the external appearance of his victims. Rechristening himself Krall, he began to use the immense swarm of drone ships he found on the planet to attack any ships which came to the system. [1]

He also discovered information regarding a powerful weapon which had been constructed on the planet. So devastating was this weapon that the aliens who created it had flung it into space, hoping it would never be discovered. However, Krall was able to access the databanks of Starbase Yorktown and find that the USS Enterprise had the weapon in their possession. [1]

Kraal lured the Enterprise to his planet and destroyed it, ultimately regaining the weapon and attacking Starbase Yorktown. Captain Kirk and his officers were able to destroy the swarm ships and kill Krall, saving the base from destruction. [1]
