A member of the USS Enterprise-E crew, Porter was aboard the ship when it violated orders to assist in the battle to defend Earth against the Borg in 2373. An engineer, Porter investigated the alteration in the ship's climate control which happened shortly after it destroyed the Borg sphere. He was thus the first person to discover that some drones had survived and beamed aboard the Enterprise, and the first crewmember assimilated. [1]
