Agreed, I've seen it twice now and once more tomorrow. Mostly good fun. NPH is a damp squid (to misquote a famous saying).

Just finished watching it. Not a fan of the new Smith. Must have missed it where Smith goes from calling Neo 'Mr. Anderson' to 'Tom'.

To me it was okay. Meh.

On to Don't Look Up.

Saw The Matrix Resurrections again today. and I'm at the point of thinking it is quite good now. There are a lot of nods to the original in there (and not just the main story). I do love the flying scene as they leave the cafe for the big climax (described in a completely spoiler free way).

I then saw "The 355", which is a female lead spy thriller. It does a pretty good job from a standing start. Certainly worth a watch.

Started off with "The King's Man", which is an origin story for the Kingsman films. I was in too minds with this one the first time. It misses the style and slight oddness of the first two. Although it does have oddness a plenty in Russia, that doesn't quite hit the mark.

61*: A Billy Crystal directed film about the race between Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris to beat Babe Ruth's homerun record.

One of the better baseball movies out there, more about friendship against lots of outside forces, than the game itself.

Ape vs Monster: Another 'mockbuster' by The Asylum starring Eric Roberts in a 'Rampage' meets 'Godzilla vs Kong' meets 'Independence Day" clusterf*ck.

Terrible cgi, awful acting, all the big moments telegraphed far far ahead...right in line with most of the stuff out of Asylum.

Graham would have LOVED it!

Scream... which is about what you would expect it to be.

The 355: lots of gals fighting and shooting with too much jerky camera shots...saw the big 'reveal' coming near the beginning of the film.

Helped pass the bomb cyclone winter storm, wasn't good..should have stuck with knowingly bad Bruce Willis choices instead.

More icy cold tomorrow, will break out BW then.

I liked it myself. Though the lead fighter guy is a new character not in the games and doesn't speak Chinese or whatever. It amused me in thd ending where Scorpion was talking to lead fighter guy, that the lead fighter guy wouldn't know what he is saying.

That and someone who isn't supposed to speak English Scorpion said Come Over Here.

Eternals last night. Wasn't bad. Was totally lost at first what was going on. Never read any of their comics. As far as the 'controversial woke' parts of it, I didn't see it. Oh no a gay couple with a kid and they kissed! Jesus it's 2022. Not 1982 or even 1992.

The King's Speech: a 2010 British historical drama film directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler. Colin Firth plays the future King George VI who, to cope with a stammer, sees Lionel Logue, an Australian speech and language therapist played by Geoffrey Rush. The men become friends as they work together, and after his brother abdicates the throne, the new king relies on Logue to help him make his first wartime radio broadcast upon Britain's declaration of war on Germany in 1939.

A re-watch for me but my fella had never seen it before. Still holds up after all this time. Well acted, well written, great soundtrack!

Nightmare Alley: while I've enjoyed other of del Torros films, this one was a miss for me. Can't put my finger on why, just never grabbed my attention and telegraphed major plot points so far in advance, it made the 2.5hrs drag even more so.

Licorice Pizza: interesting exploration of young love in the early 70s of southern California. Meandered a lot, no driving plot moving things to a conclusion, more a snapshot of a period of time.

I saw Nightmare Alley and thought it was really quite bad. As you say they gave away the ending about 30mins in. It was pretty obvious anyway.

I was going to see Liquorice Pizza but it disappeared before I got a chance. My Cinema had a problem in the storm that we had a few weeks back. We were literally half way through a movie and it suddenly stopped, just like you pressed pause on a DVD. Then someone came in and said that parts of the roof had started to blow off and they had to shut. We were all escorted out through a fire exit, as the problem was over the main entrance. Then I was unable to go back for a week and it was gone. Doesn't seem like I missed much.

I've a big run set for Wednesday. Four films:
  • The Batman
  • The Duke
  • Death On The Nile
  • Uncharted
Uncharted - I saw a while ago and it was OK, but nothing great.
Death On The Nile - A pretty good version of a classic.

Belfast: quite good all the way around..script, directing, acting, cinematography, soundtrack...really enjoyed it!

Of the 'Best Picture' nominees for the Academy Award that I've seen so far, it is my pick to win. Probably won't, as my picks rarely do...but that's my take on it.

Well worth a watch!
