A quick pencil portrait of a friend...
I always sketched a little bit as a kid, but about 10 years back, I took what we will call an "18-month legal vacation." With not much to do for a year and a half but read, write, and draw, I basically sat down and just forced myself to learn to create photo-realistic drawings. I did a lot of horse portraits and then moved onto humans. There's no formal training and I have what I would consider a pretty sloppy technique - just put down pencil and go back between shading and/or erasing until it looks out - I wouldn't quite call it the ideal way to be about it, and I couldn't draw a freehand stick figure without numerous retouches, but it seems to serve my purpose.Nutso wrote:How did you learn to draw?
