For Voyager, in delta quadrant, with no support and shrinking fuel reserve, it's all different.

Just trying to think of good reason why and not because some poor officer has to share his quarters with someone or two.

Though kinda think the use of replicators for basic needs seems to be energy intensive. There wouldn't be much of a difference for example of disposing of fecal matter (or whatever other aliens do) like they dispose of dishes and uneaten food energy wise.
